No Secret Santa This Year

It is with some regret that I announce we will not be doing Secret Santa this year. In the last few months I have struggled to get more than a few posts together and before I knew it we are in September. Given that it's been a month since I blogged anything on this blog I really have to face facts that it would not be a positive experience if I was to try and run Secret Santa this year.

As for the blog I really have struggled since March to keep any kind of regular posting schedule. First I was not really feeling the painting so I was reduced in what to post but since then I have actually been turning out some reasonable rate of painting and played a few games but being out of the habit of posting I have failed to blog the results.

I have made real efforts with my ASL blog and have at least got a few posts out from that after that had really nose dived so I am hoping to get back to this blog sometime but I feel if I push it now I will simply get frustrated and then annoyed then gone. Hopefully a break is what I need. I will probably find my feet again when the painting challenge starts but I don't think I will take part this year as I really felt the burn last year and with me then going to a ASL show I was ill for over a month after through getting over tired, though that was more the ASL con than the Painting Challenge I still felt the strain.

Again sorry for SS and the poor showing here over this year, hope to get going again once over the hill.

  1. I understand. It will be a shame but we will press on. It will be missed.

    1. Thanks, hopefully Santa Clause will continue to impress. It's possible SS will have a new home at least for this year

  3. Too bad, but I understand. This is a hobby, not a job. If it is not providing the necessary distraction than take a break and enjoy something else!

    1. It's all about not pushing on through, that can be a disaster when it's supposed to be fun

  4. No worries, Ian. It's been a tough year for me as well, hobby wise and life wise, so I can relate. Best regards to you and to the lovely Cath, we are still deeply moved by her kindness to Madame Padre earlier this year.
    Best, Michael

  6. Seems like 2017 has been one of those years for quite a few of us. Take a break and let things settle 👍

    1. What makes it worse is that I have not enjoyed the shows I have managed to get to, well not enough to get excited. The exception was the ECW To The Strongest playtest demo that we played, that was worth the show all on it's own

  7. We all have lives and the blogging is just a by product of a part of it. Hope you are ok and do whatever you need when you need to.

  9. Blogging regularly is hard work so its no shame to say you need a break. I've struggled to write regularly this year for similar reasons to you... After the painting challenge I was preparing for our groups demo game in June and by the time that was over I felt at bit burned out. But I've been blogging long enough to know the muse will come back eventually.

    2. Yes I think I will be back, just right now I have so many other pulls on my hobby time, still wargaming itself is getting chunks of my time so that is good

  12. Ian, for the sake of keeping the SS tradition going this year while you take a break, I am willing to act as a caretaker manager for 2017.

But its up to yourself and good wife? So should you not wish it, then it is perfectly fine with me. The offer was made in a spirit of trying to help out, just for this one-off case. Roy

    2. Ian, yes, I'll step in this year and, so, keep it going. I believe I've your email address, somewhere, so I'll make contact (hopefully) and then I can make the announcement asap.

I've also created a blog post over on my blog, here

  14. I had decided in march I was not going to enter again. I mean no disrespect or offence but having tried twice I feel it just is not for me.

  15. Sorry to hear its been a tough year for you Ian. I've missed your posts but my wallet hasn't :-) In fact, I cracked out some 6mm ECW just yesterday and was thinking of all the goodies you have inspired me with over the years - so thank you!
